Your Guide to Buying New and Used Cars

Here's The Real Way To Get A Great Used Car In New Jersey

There's a common misconception that buying a used car in New Jersey is much easier than buying new, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Buying a used car isn't a simple decision, and it shouldn't be taken lightly. There are a lot of factors to consider like warranties and mileage, and then there's the whole process of actually buying the car. You may go into the dealership with a very specific car in mind, then end up driving away with something you were talked into and you don't really want. When you aren't prepared to deal with dealerships, you can make a serious car buying mistake. When you're shopping for a used car, remember to keep these tips in mind to get the car you want for an outstanding price.

Pay attention to promotions (from other dealerships)

Did you notice an amazing deal for a car online? Try printing it out and taking it with you when you go shopping, even if you don't plan on going to the dealership that originally posted the ad. Dealerships are notoriously competitive places, and some rivals would be more than willing to honor a different establishment's deal if that mean that they can make a sale. This isn't guaranteed to work, but it's always worth trying.

Worry about the finance office, and not the salesman

It happens to nearly every new buyer. They feel like they got a deal from the salesman, then they go speak with the finance officer and end up paying more than they originally planned. The car salesman is only interested in selling you a vehicle, but the finance officer wants to get you to buy an extended warranty, tire protection, the dealership's customized protection plan, and other services they swear are absolutely essential. Be sure to have them explain the pricing of their special packages in detail, and don't be afraid to research certain things further to see if they'd be beneficial. Some of what they're offering could be worth it, but others will be a waste of money.

Don't view vehicle history as 100% true

Autocheck and Carfax have made buying used cars at the Auto Mall in New Jersey much easier, but the services they provide aren't 100% fool proof. Keep in mind that these services only mention repairs and damages that were reported by the owners, plenty of things could have happened to the car that you'll never know about. It's always a good sign to have a short report from those agencies, but it doesn't mean that the used car is in perfect condition.

When you follow these tips you'll be sure to drive home in a great used car at an affordable price!
